hey! did you pick up something i made, see the sticker with this address and type it into your web browser's address bar? (i am not psychic, BUT signs point to "yes")

thanks for typing in some random url. i know that's a brave move these days. i'd offer you a cookie, but this site doesn't use any! this is just a page with information, i'm not selling anything, i don't want you to follow me, etc.

i just thought it would be polite to introduce myself. i've tried to anticipate some questions, but if i've missed any (or if you just want to say hey) you can send me an email.

who are you?

i am currently a human between the ages of 14 and 84

what is this thing?

it's a zine (pronounced like magazine) they're a sort of self-published book. anybody can make them, about anything at all.

where are you leaving these?

i've been leaving these in places where they may be picked up. once picked up, there's a chance they'll be put down somewhere else. where did you find it?

if you don't want to keep my zine, feel free to throw it back into the wild! leave it in a coffee shop or at a bus stop, bring it with you on a trip and leave it in the airport, or whatever. ideas love to travel.

why are you doing this?

i wanted to write something and i wanted people to read it. i don't really know why that is. why do people make art? why do people do anything ever?

i like this format. i like things i can make and hold in my hands, i like making things for people, i like reading books. i don't want to write online, i don't care about money, and i don't want to dance for the algorithm.

it feels more honest to just make a zine. it's here, you can see it, you can pick it up or leave it for someone who wants to.

(once upon a time, i picked up a zine. thats how i learned about zines!)

how can i make a zine?

if you want to make a zine, all you need is some paper and a thought or two. the master copy of this zine is a few sheets of standard printer paper with some sharpied/glue-sticked words. i put together my pages and made some photocopies. and now you're reading it. cool, huh? feel free to take mine apart if you want to see how it looks flat.

there are plenty of "how to make a zine" guides to be found. i recommend a book called stolen sharpie revolution.

thanks for picking up my zine - even if it wasn't your cup of tea. hopefully a few of my zines did find their target audience (anyone who wants to be in that audience)
